Regional Information

We provide statistical analysis, trends and information to local governments, service providers, residents and businesses in the capital region through the regional information service.

Population & Demographics

Three data products help with the CRD's regional planning work.

Census population change: The Census is conducted every five years and provides detailed information about the population at a specific time. Statistics Canada updates these counts to include people who were missed or counted more than once.

Population estimates: Statistic Canada provides annual population estimates to show changes between censuses. These estimates give us the best snapshot of the regional population.

Population projections: Population projections show possible future population changes. The CRD's projections, created for our Regional Growth Strategy, are based on BC Stat's PEOPLE (Population Extrapolation for Organizational Planning with Less Error) methodology.

Building Permit Reports

The Regional Planning Division collects and maintains monthly building permit and subdivision data for thirteen municipalities and three electoral areas within the CRD. This data provides construction and development information for numerous factsheets and annual population estimates.

Monthly Building Permit Reports

You can view construction permit activity in the Monthly Permit Report Tool and search municipal permit data by month and year. Reports include historical data up to two months before the current month.
