Discoloured water is still safe to drink for Skana Water Service

The Skana Water System is experiencing discoloured water in the distribution system due to rapid refilling of the water supply source. The discolouration poses no health or safety risks and the water is safe to drink. Discoloured water may appear to have a slight yellow-brown tint but this discolouration is considered an aesthetic issue and not a health or safety issue.

Water system flushing will not improve the discolouration of the water. Over time, the water will return to its normal colouring, however, this could take several weeks.

We are closely monitoring the situation and are conducting additional water sampling and testing of the system.
