Hartland Land will resume regular operations Monday

A fire occurred after 7 p.m. in the active landfilling area at Hartland Landfill. Saanich Fire Department responded quickly and put the fire under control. Crews remained on scene with the fire being  fully extinguished early Sunday morning. The CRD thanks the Saanich Fire Department for their swift and effective response.  The fire is believed to have been caused by an item in the waste, potentially a lithium‑ion battery.
