Arts Funding

Local not-for-profit arts programming is an important element of healthy, livable, vibrant communities. The Capital Regional District (CRD) Arts & Culture Support Service (Arts Service), supports, champions, and develops the region's not-for-profit arts. Our primary function is to distribute arts grant funding. We also aim to foster collaboration between arts groups, funders and audiences through outreach.

The Arts Service is a sub-regional service, and any municipality or electoral area in the capital region can participate. Currently, nine of the capital region's 16 jurisdictions are part of the Arts Service: Esquimalt, Highlands, Metchosin, Oak Bay, Saanich, Sooke, Southern Gulf Islands, Victoria, and View Royal.

Arts & Culture Strategic Plan

In late 2023, the Arts Commission approved the Arts Service's 2024-2027 Strategic Plan. The plan is the result of extensive community consultation, as highlighted in our 2023 What We Heard Report [PDF/5.9MB]. It reflects both community feedback and the Arts Service's new vison and mission. The priorities, goals and actions laid out in the plan will guide our efforts from 2024-2027.
