Piers Island Wharf, Piers Island

Piers Island dock is located just west of Wilhelm Point, at the south-eastern extremity of the island, less than a mile north of the BC Ferries Swartz Bay Terminal.

Public Moorage at Piers Island Wharf

The dock is made up of three floats forming a triangle. Access from land is via a 120 foot walk-on trestle approach. Each float is approximately 70 feet in length, with moorage available on the three exterior sides. A flashing white light is fixed to a piling as an aid during poor visibility, flashing 15 times per minute.

One float includes an emergency & loading zone marked in yellow. This area is reserved for emergency vessels, water-taxis, and private loading and off-loading only. Use is restricted to a maximum of 15 minutes, and the vessel operator must stay on-board in case the vessel is required to make way for another.

Nearby Services

This Capital Regional District (CRD) dock is the only public access to Piers Island for visitors. It is used mainly by Piers Island residents, although many also have their own private docks. Piers Island is home to approximately three hundred people, many of whom are part time residents, with all but one or two homes on waterfront properties. The only public space is the 'ring road' which runs the circumference of the island.

The notice board at the head of the gangway provides information, payment envelopes, and a lock-box. Additionally, find rate information on this site.
