Southern Gulf Islands

The Southern Gulf Islands are a collection of mid-sized islands and islets off the east coast of southern Vancouver Island. With communities that range in population from 300 - 3000 residents, this unincorporated rural electoral area includes Galiano, Mayne, North and South Pender Islands, Saturna, Piers and associated islands.

The CRD serves as the local government for electoral areas; the Islands Trust has authority for zoning and land use decisions. CRD liaisons are available at satellite offices throughout the islands for community inquiries, with most administrative functions overseen from the Victoria office.

The Southern Gulf Islands Electoral Area is represented by a director, who is elected directly to the CRD’s Board of Directors.
