Reducing Emissions

Our Regional Emissions

Many of our daily activities result in the release of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Decisions on how we live, how we get around, what we eat, and how we deal with our waste contribute to our community's emissions.

In the capital region, our community (residents, businesses, and organizations) generates approximately 1.86 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent (CO2e) GHG emissions every year. 

The GHG emissions from transportation, buildings and waste make up over 75% of our region’s total emissions (see our most recent regional GHG inventory for more details).
