Residents in the impacted area should BOIL their drinking water until further notice.

The Capital Regional District (CRD) in consultation with Island Health has issued a Boil Water Advisory for the Lyall Harbour-Boot Cove Water System on Saturna Island. Residents in the impacted area should BOIL their drinking water until further notice.

The drinking water quality may have been compromised due to elevated turbidity water originating from the surface water source, Money Lake. As a precaution, the Boil Water Advisory will be in effect until the treated water turbidity is within acceptable levels, flushing has been completed, and water samples indicate the water quality no longer poses a risk to public health.

Residents in the impacted area should BOIL any water used for drinking, food preparation, ice cubes and dental hygiene until further notice. During a boil water advisory household tap water may be disinfected by boiling vigorously for one minute.

The boil water advisory will be lifted once Island Health is satisfied that turbidity levels have returned to acceptable levels and that the drinking water no longer poses a health risk. At that time, impacted customers will be notified that the Boil Water Advisory is rescinded.
