FireSmart

FireSmart is a provincial initiative dedicated to reducing the risk of wildfire damage to homes, communities, and forests. Building wildfire resilience is a shared effort, so we’re here to support you with the tools and resources you need to protect your property and the community you call home.

FireSmart supports communities in Juan de Fuca (JDF), Salt Spring Island (SS), and the Southern Gulf Islands (SGI) in reducing wildfire risk through various activities, including:

  • Free home inspections from a Local FireSmart Representative
  • Public information sessions
  • Community wood chipping events

Rebate Program

Received a FireSmart home assessment and are completing mitigation work? You may be eligible for a rebate for certain types of work completed to FireSmart. Email firesmart@crd.bc.ca for more information on eligible activities.
