Galloping Goose Trail closure near Viaduct Park extended to Dec. 23, weekdays & some weekend days. Detour via Waterfront, Jutland, Cecelia, Napier.

A section of the Galloping Goose Trail through Viaduct Park has been closed on weekdays since November 17, with a detour in place. Originally scheduled to end December 19, the closure has now been extended to December 23 to accommodate BC Hydro infrastructure upgrades. Additional closure dates include December 6, 20, 22, and 23.

The one-kilometre detour follows Waterfront Crescent, Jutland Road, Cecelia Road, Napier Lane, and the pathway along Cecelia Ravine Bike Park. Detour maps and wayfinding signage are posted along the route. Users should plan ahead and use caution. The detour includes an option for pedestrians and a slightly different route for cyclists and wheelchair users to ensure accessibility and safety.

This work supports the Victoria to Esquimalt Cable Replacement Project, which will replace a corroded underground transmission cable to improve reliability and address seismic risks. For more information and project updates, visit BC Hydro’s project page
