Fire at Hartland Landfill

A fire occurred after 7 p.m. in the active landfilling area at Hartland Landfill. Saanich Fire Department responded quickly and is putting the fire under control. Crews will remain on scene until it is fully extinguished. The fire is believed to have been caused by an item in the waste, potentially a lithium‑ion battery.
