As of June 1, at 7am, BC Hydro will close the Galloping Goose Regional Trail through Viaduct Park to Cecelia Road.

During the closure, one-kilometre detours for pedestrians, cyclists and wheelchair users will be in place 24 hours a day, 7 days per week see attached map [PDF/13.4MB].  There is no public access to the construction zone. All trail users must keep out of the closure zone for their safety and follow all posted signage.

This closure is due to the Victoria to Esquimalt Cable Replacement Project. For more information visit: Victoria to Esquimalt Cable Replacement Project

BC Hydro is working closely with the CRD and the City of Victoria on this closure, as planned infrastructure upgrades north of Viaduct Park will extend the length of the closure on the Galloping Goose Regional Trail. As these projects begin, the detour route will change. Forthcoming work may begin as early as mid-July and continue through March 2027.

We will update this alert and the detour signage on site to provide advanced notice of any changes to the closure or detour. We thank the public in advance for their patience during this closure.
