Construction begins on the new Sooke Skatepark

Victoria, BC– Today, the Sooke Electoral Area Parks and Recreation Commission (SEAPARC) broke ground on the new Sooke Skatepark, a project that will provide a vibrant and inclusive space for youth and families to enjoy active recreation.

The new skatepark, located at 6522 Throup Road, will feature surf-inspired transitions with a mini-ramp and organic bowl, along with street-style features to complement the flowing lines through the park. The design was guided by community input at design workshops and through online surveys, as well as guidance from the Skatepark Advisory Committee.

The park is an important community hub for skateboarders, bikers and scooter riders to gather, not only to ride, but socialize and be active with friends and family.

“This skatepark represents more than just a recreational space—it’s a commitment to creating opportunities for youth and fostering a sense of community,” said Al Beddows, Chair of the SEAPARC Recreation Commission. “We are proud to see this vision come to life.”

While the new park is being constructed, a temporary skatepark will be located on the Ravens Ridge Park Sport Box, at 2430 Phillips Road. This will be available to the public from dawn to dusk and monitored by SEAPARC Recreation.

The estimated cost of the project is $1,100,000and construction is being managed by Newline Skateparks. The new skatepark is anticipated to be completed by April 2026.

The public is invited to monitor the project’s progress online at the Sooke Skate Park Project Page.
