The Ministry of Transportation will temporarily close the Galloping Goose between Island Hwy and Watkiss Way starting Apr. 6

The BC Ministry of Transportation is temporarily closing approximately 350 metres of the Galloping Goose Regional Trail due to the Highway 1 Bus-On-Shoulder-Lanes project. The closure is expected to last 2-3 months, and a detour will be place along Watkiss Way. See map for details. [PDF/2.7MB]

The BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit's Highway 1 Bus-On-Shoulder-Lanes project began in spring 2025. The project includes a new pedestrian and cyclist bridge for the Galloping Goose Regional Trail crossing at Craigflower Creek, which will improve active transportation on this route.

Trail users can expect minor, temporary delays due to work associated with this project. For more information, visit the project website.
