Victoria, BC– The Sooke and Electoral Area Parks and Recreation Commission (SEAPARC) and the Capital Regional District (CRD) are pleased to announce that the new Sooke Skate Park is now officially open, following a successful grand opening celebration on May 31. The park is designed for youth, families, and riders of all ages and abilities.
Located at 6520 Throup Road, the Sooke Skate Park represents an important investment in active living and affordable recreation. The opening marks the completion of a highly anticipated project that will support positive youth engagement and provide a welcoming environment for skateboarders, scooter riders, and bikers alike.
The Skate Park concept design was completed in 2025, incorporating feedback from the community and industry experts. Its features include surf-inspired transitions with a mini-ramp and organic bowl, along with street-style elements that complement the flowing lines throughout the park. It is designed to accommodate beginners through advanced riders.
“The Sooke Skate Park is more than a recreation facility, it’s an important investment in our community’s youth, and provides an active gathering place that will create connections for generations to come,” said SEAPARC Commission Chair, Al Beddows. “We are excited to see this project completed in time for the summer.”
The project cost $1,100,000 and was managed by Newline Skateparks. Helmets and safety gear are strongly encouraged for anyone using the park.
