CRD Announces Katie Hamilton as Senior Manager, Corporate Communications and Engagement

Victoria, BC – The Capital Regional District (CRD) is pleased to announce that Katie Hamilton has been appointed as Senior Manager, Corporate Communications & Engagement, effective September 15, 2026.

Katie Hamilton is a highly respected strategic communications professional with extensive senior leadership experience in local government, complemented by 10 years as the principal of a Victoria-based communications, public engagement, and strategy consultancy. Her career reflects a strong progression of leadership. Katie spent several years in local government before she launched a consulting firm, Tavola Strategy Group, in 2016, through which she has supported a wide range of public sector clients, including the CRD.

Katie Hamilton is joining the CRD as our current Senior Manager, Andy Orr, prepares to retire at the end of the year. Andy has been with the CRD since 2008, and we are grateful for his leadership and many contributions. Andy will remain in his role and continue to serve as the media relations contact until Katie begins.

The CRD delivers regional, sub-regional and local services to 13 municipalities and three electoral areas on southern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. Governed by a 24-member Board of Directors, the CRD works collaboratively with First Nations and government partners to enable sustainable growth, foster community well-being, and develop cost-effective infrastructure while continuing to provide core services to residents throughout the region.
