Mayne Island, BC – The Capital Regional District (CRD) in consultation with Island Health has issued a Boil Water Advisory for Surfside Park Estates Water System on Mayne Island. Individuals utilizing the system should boil their water until further notice.
IMPACTED AREA: Surfside Park Estates Water System Map [PDF/335KB] (PDF)
Water quality may have been compromised due to a water main break resulting in depressurization of the entire system. As a precaution (when water service is restored), a Boil Water Advisory will be in effect until flushing and water samples indicate the water quality no longer poses a risk to public health.
Residents in the impacted area should BOIL any water used for drinking, food preparation, ice cubes and dental hygiene until further notice. During a boil water advisory household tap water may be disinfected by boiling vigorously for one minute.
The boil water advisory will be lifted when Island Heath is satisfied that the drinking water does not pose a health concern and issues an ‘ALL CLEAR’ notice at which time the impacted customers will be notified.
