Victoria, BC– The Capital Regional District's (CRD) General Voting Day for local government elections will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Advance voting is available on October 7, 2026, and October 14, 2026.
Every four years, the CRD conducts general local elections to elect a Director to represent each of its three Electoral Areas and four Commissioners to the Salt Spring Island Local Community Commission. Nominations for membership on the Juan de Fuca Land Use Committee are also conducted at the same time. The CRD also conducts general local elections on behalf of the Islands Trust.
This October, electors in the Southern Gulf Islands and Salt Spring Island Electoral Areas will cast votes for the following positions:
- CRD Salt Spring Island Electoral Area Director (1 position)
- CRD Salt Spring Island Local Community Commissioners (4 positions)
- Galiano Island Local Area Trustee (2 positions)
- North Pender Island Local Area Trustee (2 positions)
- South Pender Island Local Area Trustee (2 positions)
- Salt Spring Island Local Area Trustee (2 positions)
The following positions have been elected by acclamation:
- CRD Juan de Fuca Electoral Area Director (Al Wickheim)
- CRD Juan de Fuca Electoral Area Land Use Committee (Roy McIntyre, Ron Ramsay, Vernon McConnell)
- CRD Southern Gulf Islands Electoral Area Director (Rob Fawcett)
- Mayne Island Local Area Trustee (Jeanine Dodds, David Maude)
- Saturna Island Local Area Trustee (Paul Brent, Lee Middleton)
Mail ballot voting is available to all eligible resident electors, including renters, and non-resident property electors in CRD Electoral Areas. Eligible electors must submit a completed mail ballot application as early as possible and no later than September 30, 2026, to allow time for mailing of the ballot.
Eligible voters may cast their ballot in person during advance voting opportunities or on General Voting Day. A full list of voting locations and times is available at www.crd.ca/vote.
For all voting opportunities, you must be a qualified Resident or Non-Resident Property Elector.
