In 2025, the Capital Regional District (CRD) initiated a bylaw to create a Regional Transportation Service (RTS) focused on helping achieve three key objectives: increase walking, cycling and transit use; reduce carbon pollution; and tackle congestion.

On June 11, 2025, the CRD Board adopted Bylaw 4630 Regional Transportation Service following elector approval. For more about transportation planning and programs, visit our Regional Transportation web page.
