June is National Indigenous History Month, with National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21. This is a time to recognize and celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across Canada. Across the region, many Indigenous communities have longstanding relationships with the land and waters that continue to this day. National Indigenous History Month provides an opportunity to learn more about these histories and cultures, and to reflect on how we can build respectful relationships.
Ways to learn and engage: There are many ways to explore and learn this month whether by attending a local event, participating in a guided experience, or exploring Indigenous‑led resources online.
