The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) gives you the right to access records held by the Capital Regional district (CRD). The Act gives individuals rights of access to information held by the CRD and protects privacy by placing restrictions on collecting, using or disclosing of personal information. Anyone can request CRD records. There are no restrictions on your age or where you live.
Most requests are filled within 30 business days. This time may be extended depending on the request.
Routine Requests
Records such as agendas and minutes of open meetings , bylaws, publications, and policies and procedures are most often available on our public website or upon request. Most Property-related records are available through the CRD Building Inspection Department.
Formal Requests
A formal request is required for access to records which are not routinely available. There is no application fee for filing an FOI request with the CRD, and no fees can be charged for requests for your own personal information. However, processing fees may apply to requests for general information, for example where a large volume of records is requested.
To help us get the right records to you quickly, you should refine your request as much as possible. Large, complex requests take longer to process than small, simple requests.
How to File a Formal Request
Formal requests must be submitted in writing or by using the online form below. Please be as specific as possible when making your request as it will assist us in locating and retrieving the records in a more timely manner. If you have any questions, please email us at FOIPP@crd.bc.ca.
