Matthews Point Regional Park is a hidden gem, known for its ocean-side bluffs and beautiful views of Active Pass. This 25 hectare park protects diverse and sensitive ecosystems while offering opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and horseback riding.
There is one official trail in the park, called the Ridge Trail. It is a 1 kilometer crescent-shaped trail that starts and ends at different points along Bluff Road. This scenic trail is great for hiking, horseback riding, and birdwatching. Along the way, you can enjoy stunning views of Active Pass, where you might see seals splashing or seabirds diving.
There is also a second trail that provides a hiking-only connection to the west, leading to nearby Bluffs Park. There you might spot stands of mature Douglas Fir trees with pockets of Arbutus and Garry Oak. The park comes alive in spring with an abundance of vibrant wildflowers.

- Keep your dog under control or on a leash.
- Stay on marked trails and do not disturb plants or animals.
- Clean up after your dog and take all your trash with you.
- Smoking is not allowed in parks or on trails.
- Bicycles and motorized vehicles are not allowed.
- Camping, open fires, and alcohol are not allowed.

How to Get There
From Sturdies Bay Ferry Terminal head northwest on Sturdies Bay Rd for 550m. Turn left onto Burrill Rd. In 1.7km continue onto Bluff Rd for 650m. Turn left 500m.
