Accessible trails meet universal design standards, and are suitable for visitors with mobility considerations. Look for the wheelchair symbol to confirm whether a trail is accessible or not.
Easy
Most trails are fairly flat and level. These are suitable for families with small children.

Trails are more strenuous. Trails may be uneven with steep sections.
Challenging
These trails are strenuous. Longer trails may be uneven and/or narrow, with steep or slippery sections. These are suitable for more experienced hikers.
Mountain Biking Trail Ratings
Green Circle - Easy
Trails marked with a green circle feature gentle climbs with easily avoidable obstacles. Surfaces are firm and stable. The average trail grade is equal to or less than eight per cent, and the maximum trail grade is 15 per cent. Technical trail features include small roots and logs, and embedded rocks (avoidable).
Blue Square - More Difficult
These trails require riding experience. They offer a challenging ride with steep slopes and/or TTFs. Trails may be narrow with poor traction. Surfaces are mostly stable with some loose areas. The average trail grade is equal to or less than 10 per cent, and the maximum trail grade is 15 per cent or greater.
TTFs include:
- small rock rolls
- small jumps
- medium-sized logs
Some sections may exceed the above criteria.
Black Diamond - Most Difficult
Considerable experience is required on these trails as riding can be physically demanding. These trails are a mixture of long loose trail surfaces, with numerous TTFs and sharp corners. Surfaces have considerable variation. The average trail grade is 15 per cent or less, with the maximum trail grade exceeding 25 per cent in places.
TTFs include:
- maximum length of 2 metres
- maximum slope of 45 degrees
- large rock rolls
- large logs
- tabletops
- large jumps (max height 0.6 metres)
- steep descents with sharp transitions
Double Black Diamond - Expert
These trails are for expert riders only. Exceptional bike control skills and balance are essential to clear many challenging TTFs. Surfaces are unpredictable and have considerable variation. The average trail grade is 20 per cent, with the maximum trail grade at 30 per cent or greater.
TFFs include:
- maximum length of 3 metres
- maximum slope length of 60 degrees
- large jumps (max height 1.0 metres)
Some sections may exceed criteria due to height, width and exposure to TTFs.
Fall zones may not meet fall zone standards.
