Board of Directors

The inaugural Board meeting is scheduled for 1pm, November 18, 2026 following appointment of CRD Directors by municipal councils.

For electoral areas, citizens elect one director to the Board during general local elections. For municipalities, each council appoints one or more elected officials to the board. The formula is one director for every 25,000 population (or portion thereof). Some municipalities include CRD Director roles on their ballot to help inform the appointment decision made by council.

The Capital Regional District (CRD) is governed by a 24-member Board of Directors, supported by more than 75 committees and commissions. The Board is composed of one or more elected official from each of the local governments within the CRD’s boundaries. The directors also serve as the Capital Regional Hospital District Board and the Capital Region Housing Corporation Board. Read more about voter information.
