The Capital Regional District (CRD) is re-opening official trails within the Sea to Sea Regional Park as well as a section of Sooke Potholes Regional Park and Galloping Goose Regional Trail after closures due to a wildfire in the area.
The CRD anticipates some areas, particularly the northern parts of the Sea to Sea Regional Park, northern sections of the Galloping Goose Regional Trail and Kapoor Regional Park to remain closed for the foreseeable future.

Beginning June 15, 2024, Hartland Landfill's new Saturday hours will be 7 am to 5 pm, adding three extra hours for a one-year pilot period. Weekday hours remain Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm and it will continue to be closed on Sundays and statutory holidays.
