About the artist
Carole Sabiston

Carole Sabiston was born in London, England in 1939. She immigrated to Canada in 1948 with her parents, and went on to study Fine Art at the University of British Columbia and the University of Victoria. She actively produced art from 1965-2014. 

Carole Sabiston has exhibited extensively in major public galleries across Canada. She holds multiple distinguished awards for her contributions to artistic textiles production, such as:

  • the Governor General's Awards in Visual Arts,
  • an honorary doctorate from the University of Victoria, 
  • and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond and Platinum Jubilee medals. 

Her work can also be found in private and corporate collections in Canada, the US, and the UK. Carole had a retrospective at the Art Gallery of Victoria in 2014,  Everything Below, All of the Above, and her iconic work, ‘The Four Seasons’, can still be seen hanging in Munro’s Bookstore.
