Celebration Mosaic

Description

This mosaic is about celebration. It’s made of stained and mirrored glass tiles that catch the light as you move past. The colours shift from cool blues at the bottom to warm gold at the top, like a rising sun.

Red and green ribbons spiral across the surface. Look closely and you might notice a second circle, slightly off to the side. It’s meant to feel like looking through binoculars, framing a moment and drawing your eye.

The piece was designed by Sandra Millott and created with help from local residents during a free public workshop. It was inspired by the energy of Centennial Square, where festivals, concerts and markets often fill the space. This artwork reflects that feeling of gathering. Light, colour, and movement help tell a story of celebration.

Artist statement

My aim in including several images of it is to show how the colours change depending on lighting and angle of view.
