Nancy Powell

Born in 1963 in Surrey, BC, Nancy Powell was also known as "Nancy The Blacksmith". She was a self-taught artist who began to forge metal as a volunteer at the Sooke Region Museum in 1991, and launched Black Cat Forge in 1997. Her custom pieces have been commissioned world-wide. She was artist in residence at the Sooke Harbour House from 1999 to 2005 and was featured at the Sooke Harbour House Gallery in 2007 as artist of the month.
