Diversity Pillar

Description

The Diversity Pillar is a glass mosaic on a pillar made from a pre-cast concrete pipe.

Artist statement

Members of the Oaklands community decided what kind of mosaic they wanted and what its imagery would be. As the artist, I composed an 8.5 x 9 foot drawing. Over the course of a year I held a drop-in workshop in the community centre for members of the community to help assemble the mosaic. The pillar was made with a Cultural Capital Grant from the federal government of Canada.
