Hands of Time: Holding a Railway Spike Description This sculpture references the history and impact of the construction of an island railroad in the 1880s, which connected Victoria with the railway system of Canada. This artwork is in proximity to the old E&N Railroad. This sculpture is one of 12 bronze hands placed throughout the city. Each one captures a gesture tied to Victoria’s past or present.

About the artist Przybille earned a fine arts degree (with Distinction) from the University of Victoria. She has participated in artist residency programs in British Columbia, Nunavut, and the Netherlands. She has created several public artworks, including The Father Pandosy Mission 150th Anniversary Commemorative Sculpture, The Hands of Time (the City of Victoria's 150th Anniversary Commemorative Sculpture) and Illuminature (City of Kelowna). Projects include a life sized, bronze figurative sculpture of Chief Sʷknc̓ut (Sookinchute), commissioned by Westbank First Nation.
