Cedar Lane Manganese Treatment Project – Petition Process
The petition from property owners in the Cedar Lane Water Service to authorize borrowing to upgrade the Cedar Lane Water System Manganese Removal has passed. The petition requests that the CRD move forward with securing funding of up to $230,000 over a maximum term of 15 years for the proposed projects in the capital plan. The next steps will be to introduce the loan authorization bylaw to the Electoral Areas Committee to recommend to the CRD Board that the bylaw be given three readings and be forwarded to the Inspector of Municipalities for review and approval along with the petition results. Once funding has been released, the project can move forward.

Source Water
The Cedar Lane Water System obtains its drinking water from two deep wells: Well #1 and Well #5. Well #5 is the primary source of water for the water system.
Water Treatment Process
The water treatment process consists of coarse filtration, ultra violet light (UVA) disinfection and chlorine (liquid sodium hypochlorite) disinfection.
Distribution System
Treated water is pumped to the Cedar lane tank and distributed to customers through a 1,500 metre network of 150mm (6”), 100mm (4“) and 50mm (2”) water mains. The distribution system also contains hydrants and standpipes. Service connections are provided to the property line with curb stops and individual household meters. Service from the property line to the dwelling is the homeowners’ responsibility.
