Commercial vehicle access depends on what type of material is being dropped off as well as the type of vehicle. All loads must remain covered and secured until reaching the site.
Self-tipping vehicles must use this entrance to access the Active Face and the Kitchen Scraps Transfer Station. Accepted materials include:

Cash, debit, Visa, MasterCard and cheque are acceptable payment methods. Commercial customers can also register to become a Hartland account customer to charge tipping fees to a credit account.

The public scale serves both residential customers and commercial customers with or without credit accounts.
Use of the automated weigh scale requires both a credit account and an RFID sticker. The automated scale reduces wait times and provides early entry to the active face and kitchen scraps transfer station.
The active face is the area of the landfill where garbage is received directly from self-tipping commercial vehicles.
The active face is unpaved, can be uneven and at times get quite muddy. It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure their vehicle is suitable for the conditions of the active face. Drivers are required to wash down their vehicle tires upon exiting the active face during wet weather conditions. The wheel wash facility should not be used to wash out vehicle boxes.
Due to the presence of mobile equipment moving and compacting garbage, all customers to the active face and wheel wash facility must wear high visibility vests and safety boots. The exception are passengers who remain in the vehicle.

To protect the health and safety of all workers as well as the environment, some materials streams are managed separate from general refuse and require approval and in some cases an appointment for disposal at Hartland Landfill.
